Everything You Need To Know About Orange Essential Oil

Orange oil is single handedly, the best aromatic for the beginner aromatherapist. Mixing well with almost every other essential oil, it is almost foolproof. Orange oil softens and warms any blend. It has many uses from relaxing your mind to protecting wood. Orange oil is one of the less expensive oils.

Therapeutic uses: Acne, blemishes boredom, bronchitis, cellulite, chills, chronic fatigue syndrome colds, constipation, coughs, creativity, depression, disinfectant, eczema, fear, fever, flu, fluid retention, gingivitis, joint pain, lethargy, mental exhaustion, mouth ulcers, muscle pain, nervous anxiety, oily skin, premenstrual syndrome, psoriasis, seasonal affective disorder, skin care and stress.

Essential Oil Applications:

For acne, blemishes, and to combat oily skin, wet a cotton ball and add 2 drops oil. Dab lightly on acne and blemishes or gently rub off facial oils.

To fight against boredom and lethargy, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser.

For cellulite, mix 2-3 drops with 1 ounce carrier oil and massage into affected area regularly.

To cool a fever or warm a chill, use n a compress: cold for a fever, hot for a chill. Can also use 8-10 drops in bath water or add 2-3 drops in 1 ounce carrier oil and use in a massage.

For colds, coughs, and flu, use 2-3 drops in a steam inhalation. Can also use 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and run on chest.

For constipation, add 2-3 drops to 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage into lower back area.

To inspire creativity, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser.

For chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, fear, mental exhaustion, nervous tension, and stress, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser or steam inhalation. Can also use 8-10 drops in bath water.

To alleviate fluid retention, use 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and massage on lower abdomen and back. Can also be massaged on other affective areas.

For gingivitis and mouth ulcers place 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and massage on affected area. Can also be used in a hot compress.

To reduce inflammation associated with eczema and psoriasis, use 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and massage on affected area.

To help alleviate stress brought on by seasonal affective disorder and premenstrual syndrome, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser. Can also use 8-10 drops in bath water.

Mixes well with: Almost all essential oils, but especially wel with allspice, anise, basil, bergamont, cinnamon, citronella, clary sage, clove, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, hyssop, jasmine, juniper, lemon, marjoram, oregano, neroli, nutmeg, palmarosa, patchouli, rosewood, sage, sandalwood, and ylang ylang.

Extraction Method: Cold-pressed.

Part Used: Orange peel.

Safety Information: Do not apply before going out in sunlight. Highly sensitive people should do a patch test.

Fun Fact:
On Chinese New Year, oranges are given as gifts to symbolize happiness and prosperity.
