14 Love/ Romance Reads for February
Happy month of love!
This months book recommendation theme is love and romance! I've chosen 14 due to Valentines Day, of course!
A couple reminders (these are the same FYI's from last month, so if you read those feel free to skip to the list/ links!)
I want to mention that the books that have physical copies available through Saskatoon Public Library (SPL) you may have to "place a hold" to get it sent to your nearest Library. I have done this several times with several books and once it's at my library I get an email stating its ready for pick up so I head to my library and tell them my name and borrow it. Sometimes this takes days and sometimes weeks- it just depends so keep that in mind. Also The Libby app is connected to SPL but is its own app that you would need to download for free and have a Saskatoon Public Library Card in order to access these titles. Library Cards are free. All you need to do is go to your nearest library (or any Saskatoon library) with a piece of ID and fill out the registration form then they will hand you your library card and you're ready to borrow!
Also, some of these "free reads" are on Kindle Unlimited (You do not need to purchase a kindle to access these titles. You can download the Kindle App for free on your phone or iPad, tablet, etc.) Kindle Unlimited is a pay subscription service but when you first sign up you usually get anywhere between 1-3 months free before you have to pay the monthly $10ish dollars that gives you access to millions of books which again I do believe is worth it for the books I'll be recommending plus more. It's also cheaper than buying the kindle versions in general.
***I give examples where you can borrow these books for free but that doesn't mean you can't purchase and add to your collection, of course! I always encourage supporting authors so for this reason the title will be linked to amazon where you can purchase these books to support the author (and me at no extra cost to you) and the following links will be free resources to access these books legally and in ways that don't hurt the author. I usually borrow a book, read it and then return it and decide if I will read it again and/or want it in my collection then proceed with purchasing it. I will not recommend or or even look for or share ways to get free books that are pirated.***
This book. OMG I LOVE this book. If you are only going to pick one book I ever recommend, pick this one! I read it after reading Lisa-Marie Presleys book (well listening to) and I was expecting a similar kind of gloomy vibe but NOPE! This book rocked my world I loved it so much. I am definitely buying it and also I watched the movie after reading the book and 10/10 on that as well. (Although, the book was better but isn't it always?) anyways, its just as the title says. This book is available through the Libby app as an audiobook and an ebook as well as a physical copy through SPL.
2. Twenties Girl- Sophie Kinsella
My sister recommended this book and leant it to me and at first I was skeptical but then it got good and if I remember correctly I finished it in like 2 days maybe 3. It has vintage, humour and romance. What's not to love? Physical copy available through Saskatoon Public Library
3. The Boyfriend- Freida McFadden
Who doesn't love Freida McFadden at this point? My coworker lent me several of her books after recommending the author to me and I have usually loved and/or became so inthralled with the books that I read them in 1-2 days. My goal this year is to read all of the Frieda McFadden books I have not yet read. This thriller/romance book will keep your attention for sure! Available on Kindle Unlimited as well as SPL physical copy and ebook through Libby
I don't even know what to say about this book other than please read it. It is gripping, weird, shocking, romantic all in one bundle of wtf. Unfortunately you cannot borrow this book for free anywhere. It's one of the books you'd have to purchase on amazon to read on kindle unless you want a physical copy which idk maybe you do? You could always donate it to the little free library after reading if you didn't want it in your collection.
5. What If Love is the Point- Carlos & Alexa PenaVega
I actually listened to this audiobook on an app that gave me a free trial when it first released. It was such a good listen and I would love to have a physical copy in my personal library. I believe there's also a devotional that goes with it now as well which I'd love to do, too. This book is about Carlos and Alexas love story and fate stories. It's really something else! There is a physical copy available to borrow through Saskatoon Public Library
6. Do You Remember? - Freida McFadden
Another Freida book! Such suspense! It's not a very long book but it does keep you interested even if it gets a bit repetitive.... This book is available on Kindle Unlimited
Paris Hilton Although not technically love or romance, this memoir talks a lot about love and romance (and its pink) and it has horrifyingly juicy details of Paris Hiltons life. I'm not gonna lie, I did tear up at one point. If you know and love Paris Hilton or even if you just know who she is, read it. You will not regret it! This book is available as a physical copy through SPL, and both an audiobook and ebook through the Libby app
8. The Housemaid book #1 - Frieda McFadden
Suspense, thriller, lust, love. It's all there! I of course have to include a series this month, too! I apparently am a sucker for series'. This series is no exception. Theres a reason that these books are so popular and you're gonna wanna find out for yourself. This book is available through Kindle Unlimited as well as a physical copy at SPL
9. The Housemaid's Secret- Freida McFadden book #2
This book is available through kindle unlimited
10. The Housemaid Is Watching- Freida McFadden book #3
This book is available through kindle unlimited and SPL physical copy.
11. The Housemaid's Wedding- Freida McFadden
This book was the last book she wrote however you can read it after The Housemaid's Secret and before The Housemaid is Watching for the chronological order. Although it came out after I had read all three so I ended up reading it last. I like things in order though so I would recommend reading it the way previously stated. This book is available through kindle unlimited
12. The Widow's Husband's Secret Lie- Freida McFadden
I told you I wanted to read ALL her books. This book is a thrilling, satirical novella. It's a quick read and his so many twists and turns you might get whip lash! This book is available through kindle unlimited as well as through SPL online library app Libby
This month might as well be "Freida McFadden books I've read and enjoyed" but anyways this creepy little thriller will have you shocked and also wanting to read more Frieda books, duh! This book is available through kindle unlimited as well as an ebook version through SPL online library app, Libby.
14. Little Acts of Self Care 101 Ways To Relax Mind, Body and Spirit- S.J.G.
My sister gave me this book several years ago. I ended up reading it and donating it afterwards but it has such simple, realistic advice and tips. Love month is also about loving yourself <3 Unfortunately I cannot find this book for free anywhere - I could barely find a link to purchase it. It is worth it though. I donated mine to a little free library so maybe you'll come across it ;)
Thanks for reading!
