Summer Fun that Doubles as a Workout

Welcome back to the blog!

In this months post I am going to be sharing fun summer activities that you can do by yourself, with your friend or significant other, your pet or your whole family!
Sometimes life can be a lot and when you think of moving your body on those tough days, you can get a little discouraged. ESPECIALLY if you are forcing yourself to do workouts that you don't like. Don't get me wrong, some we dislike because we aren't good at them and those things are the ones that we need to do but if you are in a season where you need to be gentle with yourself or you are struggling to find the time or motivation for everything, I have compiled a list of fun summer things that double as workouts below:

Biking- You can get a REALLY tough workout in depending on the trail you take, the amount of time you can put in and of course, speed. Don't sleep on this amazing workout . It's fun and there are things like bike trailers for kids (or pets) and it can even be an awesome date night idea!

Playing on the playground- If you have kids, next time you go to the park and your watching your little ones, why not attempt to do the monkey bars!? Its more challenging than you remember! Or the balance beam. Balance is important for all sizes and ages.

Walking/ Hiking- Try a new trail you have never tried. Take pictures along the way to document it and to keep for future motivation when you need it most.

Running- This simple yet challenging workout is one of my favourites. I run with my dog Rex outside. We enjoy scenery, he enjoys pooping right about when I get a good pace (I always have poop bags on hand). Running is mentally AND physically challenging. The feeling after you accomplish a run is indescribable. If you are new to running, using the app Couch 2 5k, your can build up your stamina so that after 8 weeks (I think?) you will be trained and set to run 5K!

Swimming- Lake, beaches, outdoor pools, indoor pools they will all do the trick! Instead of laying in the sand (boring!), hop in the water and SWIM! Practice different swimming strokes that you haven't done for awhile, pretend mermaid like when you were little. Just have fun! Honestly- swimming can EXHAUST you (in a good way!)

Thats all for now! If you have any ideas, leave a comment and share. I would love to learn more, myself!

Thanks for reading,
