10 FREE Winter Dates *kid & pet friendly
It’s November! ❄️ We’re still waiting for snow where we are but I thought I’d share some FREE winter date ideas! None of these ideas involve alcohol but they can if you’d like. They also can all be done to include your family (including the fur babies) adapt as needed!
Winter picnic 🧺
You can have a picnic in the back of your vehicle with the heat on and some blankets while enjoying the view. OR you can fully commit to an outdoor picnic and get a blanket and your snow suit on! Be sure to pack a warm beverage!
Winter bonfire 🔥
If this isn’t on one of your winter bucket lists, it should be. Grab some hot chocolate, coffee, tea, warm milk or even some mulled wine or hot apple cider and enjoy a winter bonfire!
Winter hike 🥾
Map out a nice hike, turn on Res Q Walk to help support a local animal charity (or WoofTrax), get bundled, pack some water and extra socks (maybe a thermos with some hot cocoa) and head out!
Winter Photoshoot 📸
This one can be adapted in so many ways. You can do a self timer Photoshoot together. You can do a contest who can take the better picture of the other or your pup, or you can take scenic pictures. You can really adapt it to fit your comfort level
Movie night in 🍿
Another great one! Decide on a movie together, get some snacks ready with what you have in the house already (anything goes: from veggies and dip to chocolate chips)
Board game date 🥇
This is one of my favourites! Just grab one of the board games you already have or you can do something as simple as DIY charades. Have fun, make it your own!
Baking date 🍪
You can make something easy and kid friendly to include the kids or you can make dog treats to include the pup. I’ll link my favourite dog treat recipe Here (it’s technically Halloween but you can use a different mould, the recipe still works) Or just bake your favourite treat. Make sure to use what you already have to keep it free!
Running date 👟
It’s all in the title. Its good for you, good for your partner, kid(s) and/ or whole family. If you’re not a particularly running person, download Couch 2 5k to help get you started. Even do it as a challenge with your partner or family. Extremely pet friendly since it is outdoors!
Nap date 💤
Great especially for those frigidly cold days where you CANT go outside. If it’s a weekend, don’t even bother setting an alarm if you don’t have to. If you’re a busy parent, set an alarm and let the kids know once the alarm goes off they can get up. But until then, they have to stay in the bed and “pretend” to sleep. (They will most likely fall asleep).
Crafting for each other date 🎨
Use your creativity! Draw or paint each other, craft each other a Christmas ornament (if it’s near the holidays), or craft some Christmas gifts together for other people.
