Angelina Kunze Massage Therapy Interview

Hello! Welcome to Aprils blog! This month I kick off my series of interviews with some of my favourite people!

Angelina is a spiritual business owner, massage therapist, wife, daughter, and she also happens to be my sister. I got her to answer a few questions to take a little bit of a deeper look inside her life and success. We started with business basics and then got a little more personal

What was the biggest shock when it came from working at a business to working at your house?

The biggest shock moving home based was the relief I found. Corporate energy is so competitive I find it hard to be in. Moving home based promoted calm.

what is one non-negotiable in your business?

A non negotiable in my business is respect. I want those that cross my path to feel seen and heard. I want to be a person that provides them safety. I want their authenticity to shine and that takes equal energy exchanges.

What is the best business advice anyone has ever given you?

The best business advice anyone has every given me was constructive criticism. Im always open to learning how I can improve or promote more comfort.

What advice would you give to a new business owner?

The first year is the hardest. Enjoy and embrace the journey!

With owning a business, how do you make time for yourself?

Being a business owner means you set you own hours, I have set hours that allow me to truly live life. I think it's important for people to remember careers should work around life. I see so many people scheduling life around work, it's exhausting.

How did you know it was the right time to create your business?

I knew it was time to start a business when I wanted to change things at the business I was working for. I knew I didn't have the power to change an already established business, so I just created my own.It was kind of an over night idea I truly pursued.

What has been the greatest blessing in being a business owner?

The biggest blessing is meeting so many bright souls living in a way that prioritizes self care.

Seeing people take care of themselves makes me happy. Being in a position where I can help them take care of themselves is something I view as an honor.

Being a massage therapist, you know a lot about the body. What is one thing you think everyone should do or experience to keep their body in a good state?

The body is extremely smart. Every cell is working towards keeping you healthy. I want people to view their body as an asset and an alli, because that's what it truly is. We just have to take time and listen to what it's saying.

Did you feel different once you were married as opposed to before? How?

Marriage is so much more than a day. It's so much more than a ring and a dress. It's a promise to someone. It's the building of your own family. It's the decision to trust someone with your life. I want my generation to tune into this fact and enter the chapter with unshakeable faith. The only way to forever is one day at a time.

What does it mean to you to be a good wife?

To be a good spouse is to remember that your spouse is your immediate family and everyone past them is an extension of that fact. It grounds a relationship. It builds a solid foundation.

What advice would you give to someone who is planning a wedding?

When planning a wedding choose your 3 most important things. Mine was marrying my best friend, good photos and the day. Everything passed those things becomes extra. This perspective minimizes stress and keeps what's truly important first and foremost. (This is the advice that she gave me when I was planning a wedding and it is the BEST advice I was given)

What started your spiritual journey? Is there a specific time or event?

I would say spirituality has always been a part of me. Growing up I was given a lot of traditional teachings. I became known for my spiritual side organically which ultimately had me pursue a deeper connection to traditional teachings. Spirituality isn't what Hollywood makes it out to be. It's a very grounded experience that just sort of finds you.

What are your core beliefs?

Kindness. To self, others and our planet.

Does your spirituality impact other areas of your life? Like business decisions or endeavours? How so?

Spirituality leads to the highest level of compassion and teaches us what it means to be alive and well. I like to believe it impacts everything.

how do you take care of your mental health? Do you have any tips and tricks that you would like to share?

Mental health is something I take very seriously. I think the biggest way to protect it is to acknowledge how people, places and things make you feel. The things that are good for you will feel good.

What do you do to nurture your emotional health?

Emotions always hold meaning. Theyre our internal navigation system. Without them we lose the human experience. We're here to learn and we learn by feeling.

do you have a spiritual practice that you do? What is it?

My spiritual practice is simple. Every morning I take a minute just to acknowledge how amazing it is to be alive. I then smudge and wish well for all other living aspects. I truly do what I can to safe guard compassion.

How do you feed your intellectual health? What are you learning?

I'll forever be a student. I've spent the last decade educating myself on mental health and the mind-body connection. I've got a lot of certifications in social work con ed. I truly believe the second we think we know what we need to, we know nothing at all. As far as what I'm currently learning, I would say would be how to slow down. My 2023 mantra is "less is more". Us humans like to race through life, forgetting once it's gone, it's gone.

How do you balance your personal and social time?

Work life balance, I truly navigate it via intuition. I've learned the hard way that there is people who like you and there's people who like what you do for them. Due to the fact I'm an introvert, my social circle knows and understands low maintenance friendships are a must for me.

What is your favourite way to move your body?

Yoga has truly been life saving.

What is your favourite thing about yourself?

My favorite thing about myself is my ability to turn pain into wisdom. So much of society gets stuck in their pain, they forget they have the option to learn and grow from it. I hope I can help change that.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

My favorite childhood memory would be camping. When we're stripped of the materialistic aspects of life, the spirit has room to thrive, explore and expand. So much of the way we live now, clouds our ability to just feel free.

And that was our interview. I hope you learned something new that you maybe hadn’t known about Angelina and that you enjoyed this blog.
